Thank you!
Thank you so much to everyone who came out last week
to help us paint the mural!
During this past week Heather Berlin, Michelle Mallory, NHS juniors - Phoebe Gelbard and Eileen Wang, and about eighteen JFK students came together to create the JFK Community Mural. We worked from Tuesday through Friday, starting with transferring the image onto canvas and labeling every shape with its color. Starting Wednesday, we painted the imagery, which required many hands brushing on multiple coats of colors and using small brushes to crisp up edges. Students from grades 6-8 worked really hard on the mural, and we had tons of fun in the process.
What's next:
We still have lots more work to do. Ms. Berlin and Mrs. Mallory will be polishing up the mural in the weeks to come before we begin the process of adhering the canvas to the brick wall on the front of JFK. We are really excited for the unveiling of the final mural and will keep you posted on that date.
We appreciate all of your support in this amazing project! Here are some pictures from last week's fun :)
